 EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Caitlin has 17 years of experience counseling adults and teenagers for anxiety, depression, self esteem, self care skills, healthy communication, healthy sexuality, stress management, anger management, spirituality and spiritual discovery, personal crisis, parenting skills, trauma, sexual trauma, substance abuse and addictive behaviors. Additionally, Caitlin has a unique skill for supporting clients in discovering their own spiritual belief system. As clients begin to process past and current experiences from their soul state, life becomes less complicated, and more easeful and meaningful.

After graduating from UCLA with a bachelors in Psychology and Evolutionary Anthropology, Caitlin started her career in Los Angeles as a high school teacher instructing drug and sex education classes. Caitlin focused on enhancing  students’ interpersonal communication skills, assertiveness, and healthy self esteem. During this same time Caitlin received training from the Ojai Foundation as a council facilitator.* Caitlin went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, a private institution offering Masters and Doctoral programs in clinical psychology. Following the completion of her Master’s, Caitlin accrued several thousand intern hours working with various public and private organizations for treatment in healthy communication, anger and stress management, depression and anxiety, substance abuse, PTSD, dual diagnosis, trauma, family dynamics, and many other areas of mental health. Once Caitlin received her Licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (CA LMFT #97302), Caitlin continued to work in private substance abuse treatment facilities in Malibu, CA while opening her own private practice in Santa Monica, CA. Caitlin moved out of California in 2017 and now lives in Oregon! Caitlin has passed both the California MFT Licensing Exam and the National MFT licensing Exam.

*Council is a circle practice that fosters attentive listening and authentic, heart-felt sharing. Inspired by storytelling traditions from many cultures, the practice of council encourages participants to speak from the heart and listen from the heart, practice mediation and conflict resolution, and strengthen sense of community and fellowship. Caitlin continues to facilitate council regularly, offering womxn’s council, teen council, and adult council.
